Since the early 1990s, Frankfurt School’s “International Advisory Services (IAS)” has been committed to providing consulting as well as training services and addressing the needs of different stakeholders in the financial sector. IAS carries out projects across the globe with the overall aim to strengthen the financial sector and thus contribute to improving access to finance for Micro Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) and low-end population.

We are currently seeking a service-driven Project Manager to strengthen our team at IAS. The successful candidate will be based at our Head Office in Frankfurt, Germany. The position involves business trips to project locations throughout Africa, Asia, Middle-East, Eastern Europe and Latin America.  Participation in industry events, international conferences and/or trainings is expected.

Duties and Responsibilities

The work consists of tendering for and carrying out advisory interventions in small banks and non-bank lenders (microfinance institutions, leasing companies, consumer lenders etc.) in emerging/developing markets. The development finance projects are typically implemented with the support of in-house experts together with subcontracted consultants from the IAS network. 

The position is analytical and responsibilities are flexible. A specialisation on a particular development finance topic or technical tool / methodological approach will be developed according to the candidate´s profile.

Following are some examples that should illustrate the responsibilities of the position holder:

  • Acquisition of new projects (compiling Letter of Interest, technical and financial offers)
  • Technical design and supervision of international consulting and training projects
  • Realisation of consulting and training abroad in the context of the projects
  • Project management, including planning of project and assignment, reporting, responsibility for and control of budget, Project monitoring visits on-site
  • Attending of clients, of local clients which will receive consulting, of long term and short term experts
  • Administration of preparation and operative execution of international consulting and training projects
  • Development of new consulting and training concepts and products respectively support of product design
  • Continuous observation of the market, especially of competitors, donor organisations, international networks etc.

Qualifications

  • Academic degree in business, finance, economics, mathematics or related field; alternatively expert with project experience in banking or in international consulting and training in banking and finance sector.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in project management and operative implementation of international projects or in financial services industry.
  • Very good communications skills: verbal and written proficiency in English is a must and good knowledge in Arab, French, Portuguese, Spanish or Russian language.
  • Sound knowledge of common software (MS-Office).
  • Self-motivated, independent mind that can succeed with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Team player and flexible in handling project management and consultancy workload.
  • Confident in building effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Up to 25% yearly spent for travelling abroad.
