Mission Statement / Objectives of the Function:

The Officer (Monitoring and Evaluation) supports the work of the Quality Assurance Unit in relation to Monitoring and Evaluation of FSC impacts. He/she supports FSC activities and processes aiming at conformity with relevant best practices and benchmarks developed by third parties in this area.


Main Roles and Responsibilities:

·           Specific:

o    To compile data on impact indicators established through the internal Monitoring and Evaluation system.

o    To research media publications and scientific studies as well as policy developments.

o    To compile relevant findings and trends about the FSC certification system for further impact analysis.

o    To enter relevant information into a literature database.

o    To support interaction with external parties (members, stakeholders, certificate holders, certification bodies, committees, experts and consultants).

·           General:

o    To provide administrative and logistical support to technical committees and events (e.g. organizing working group meetings or information booths at scientific events).

o    To administer and handle information requests by stakeholders and third parties.

·           Additional Tasks as agreed with the Program Manager (Monitoring and Evaluation).


Execution of Discretionary Power:

The position does not include any signing authority.


Functional Attribution to Organizational Unit:

·         Formal and functional reporting: The Officer (Monitoring and Evaluation) reports to the Program Manager (Monitoring and Evaluation).

·         Formal and functional supervision of staff: The Officer (Monitoring and Evaluation) supervises no staff.


Qualification, Experience and Skills:

·           Education and Training: University or technical college degree in a relevant field (e.g. Quality Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, International Relations, Business Administration, Natural Resource Management, or Forest Management respectively).

·           Working Experience, Style and Skills:

o    At least 2 years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Monitoring and Evaluation, Quality Management (Quality Assurance, Quality Control), Certification (Standard Development, Auditing), International Relations, Business Administration, Forest Management.

o    Basic project management experience.

o    Experience with stakeholder engagement in complex technical issues is an asset.

o    Good time management skills: Ability to perform well while handling simultaneously a number of administrative and support functions.

o    A strong sense for diligence and accuracy.

o    Service and solution oriented attitude to work.

o    Administration skills.

o    Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

o    Proven ability to plan and organize work.

·           Languages:

o      Fluency in English (spoken and written).

o      Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) is a plus.

·           Computer Skills – good skills in the use of/experience with:

o    Standard software packages (MS Office).

o    Database management platforms.

o    Customer Relations Management systems (for example Salesforce) is a plus.

o    Content Management Systems is a plus.

·           Communication Skills:

o    Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.

o    Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relations.

·           Others:

o    Experience in working in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, global team.

o    Experience in working in / with an NGO or Non-Profit Organization.

o    Commitment to FSC’s mission and values.

o    Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of values, views and approaches to issues relevant to the FSC program by stakeholders around the world.

o    Basic understanding of the scope of FSC’s programs and activities.

o    Ability to represent FSC through his/her work with exemplary personal and professional authority and conduct.


Terms and Conditions:

·           Location: Bonn, Germany.

·           Working Hours: Part time - 20 hours per week.

·           Duration of Employment: Temporary contract from 01 August 2017 to 31 August 2018 (parental leave substitute).

·           Starting Date: 01 August 2017.
