Project Assistant (m/f/d)

Emergency and Trauma Pedagogy for Ukraine (80-100%) starting immediately

Place of work in Karlsruhe (HQ) or remotely, with regular longer project trips to Ukraine (60%/40%)

The non-profit association Friends of Waldorf Education has been promoting educational initiative and Waldorf pedagogy worldwide since 1971. In the department of Emergency Pedagogy, we work with children, adolescents, parents and local educators in crisis and war zones, based on trauma- and Waldorf pedagogy principles.

What we do?

We have been active in the humanitarian aid sector with our core expertise in Emergency and Trauma Pedagogy for over 14 years. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, we have been active on the ground. In addition to extensive trainings in Ukraine for local professionals (teachers, social workers, psychologists) in Emergency and Trauma Pedagogy, we also support local partner organizations to provide trauma pedagogical support in their communities. We are currently looking for a new colleague to support our Ukraine team.

Your tasks:

  • Support local partner organizations in Ukraine, especially in the areas of administration and finances
  • Support project management in project administration and implementation, especially in the areas of administration, finances, and procurement
  • Ensure correct administrative project processing according to the guidelines of the donor (ADH)
  • Support the preparation of applications as well as interim and final reports for the donor
  • Data management
  • Networking with other local and internationally operating organizations
  • Support public relations
  • Ppreparation and implementation of local training sessions with international teams

What you bring to the table:

  • Very good German and/or English speaking and writing skills
  • Proficient in common MS Office applications
  • Experience in humanitarian aid or development cooperation
  • Willingness to travel regularly to Ukraine
  • Independence, resilience, and good self-assessment to behave appropriately and responsibly in sometimes challenging environments and occasionally tense security contexts

Not a must, but definitely advantageous:

  • Language skills in Ukrainian and/or Russian
  • Work experience in crisis areas
  • Knowledge of Waldorf pedagogy and experience in working with traumatized individuals
  • Experience in applying for third-party funding
  • Knowledge in IT and Social Media
